Episode II: Mors Certa Vita Incerta (Death is Certain, Life is Uncertain)

I distinctly remember being in the studio finishing our first album, Set to Go!, and talking about how we had just written a new batch of songs that truly captured our sound. It was too late to add these songs to Set to Go!, but we wanted them to become the backbone of our next album.

At the time, the plan was to tour and play shows in support Set to Go! and then jump right back in the studio. Somewhere along the way, the recording part of those plans got derailed, however, we did play scores of shows with more and more of these "new songs" creeping their way into our setlist. Each time we played these songs, they changed ... an extra pause here, more gang vocals there, these songs evolved into battle hardened and stage tested anthems.

During the darkest days of the 2020 pandemic, we began to meet in socially distanced clandestine gatherings to discuss how an album could be assembled. It was decided to forgo a traditional studio setting and instead follow our DIY ethos by recording the album ourselves. Heeding the call to capture our second album, drummer Doug Nickoson agreed to produce, record and mix the entire album. When it came to mastering, Doug did not have to look very far, as his brother Keith Nickoson, a versatile and experienced sound engineer, joined the project.

In late 2022, we began to gather in earnest to begin the recording process: first the drums, then the twin guitar attack, add in the vocals and finally culminating with our bass ace, Max Monter. Mix in a gunslinger inspired instrumental intro, some backing vocals, hours (and hours) of mixing and you've got an album.

With completed recordings in hand, we turned to Gotta Groove Records in our hometown, Cleveland, Ohio to press the album. Initially, 200 copies were pressed on random colored recycled vinyl ... there truly are no two records that are the same color.

If you know what we are about, then don't waste anymore time, starting streaming and order the album now. However, if you are new to the band, then get ready for fuel injected action rock with driving beats, guitar solos, snarling vocals, builds ups and breakdowns. Think about Suicidal Tendencies, the Bronx and maybe the Hellacopters. Viva La Pig Rock!
